Press Release: Business-Economic Forum Greece – United Arab Emirates (Lagonisi 11-12.01.2012).
The Vice-President of the Government, Theodoros Pangalos, will co-chair on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 with the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Al Nagia, on the works of the Business and Economic Forum, organized in common by the governments of the both countries.
In the Forum will participate some 200 major companies and investment institutions of world-wide range investment agencies in Greece in order to strengthen the extroversion of enterprises from both countries and enforce investment and business partnerships in the areas of industry aluminum, energy, environment, tourism, air transport, rural industry, food, banking, stock market, shipping and new technologies.
The response of the Government of the United Arab Emirates to the invitation of the Vice-President of the Hellenic government confirms the confidence of the Gulf countries in the investment opportunities in Greece, but also the importance of our country for the future development in the region of Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East. The expectation of the Government of the UAE is to maintain the economic stability in the region and to overcome the economic crisis through policies and partnerships which will ensure a return to a growth path in terms of mutual respect and competitiveness demanded by markets.
The Greek companies and the banking system will have the opportunity to make mature investment proposals to seek financing sources of entrepreneurial projects.
Finally, in the context of the Business and Economic Forum, the Greek businessmen will be informed by the state agents of the Emirates on business opportunities in the United Arab Emirates under the development program announced by the Government of the country.

This important event which brings together the business economic investment interest of state and private agencies in both countries confirms the interest of the Gulf countries like the United Arab Emirates, to seize the investment opportunities currently provided by Greece. Meanwhile, the Greek companies that are turning their actions into the Gulf region do have the opportunity to communicate directly with the public and private sector in the United Arab Emirates as part of the business event in order to explore the possibilities of joint business ventures and investments in the country.

Business meetings with Gulf countries.
In an effort to overcome the serious problems caused by the global economic crisis and in order to promote entrepreneurship in our country, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE accepted to participate in separate two-day business meetings to contact the Greek companies and be informed on investment frameworks which have been developed recently in Greece and can possibly proceed into business collaborations.
It is estimated from the side of the Gulf countries that:
- Even in times of crisis, they are offered many valuable investment opportunities in the areas of energy, tourism, transport, new technologies, food, rural development and the pharmaceutical industry.
- The European Union in economic and investment environment ensures institutional stability.
The organization of the first-two-day meeting with the United Arab Emirates is set for 11-12 January 2012.
This effort is coordinated by the Vice-President of the Government, Theodoros Pangalos, in to which the Prime Minister has assigned the responsibility of the initiative to support entrepreneurship.
